DIY Back To School Corner

Can you believe that we are already at the end of summer? It feels like the year just began, and now we are already looking at Back to School as the kids return on Monday. I remember what it was like when my kids were little. There is so much hustle and bustle that goes on during the school year and if you are not organized then it is easy to forget assignments, coats, lunches, and/or miss appointments. Life is crazy, we understand! That is why we decided to make over a mud room and show you just how easy it would be to do a DIY Back to School Corner!

The first step in putting together a DIY back to school corner is finding best space. Where would it be most efficient for your family to have all of your back to school supplies organized and ready to go? Once you have found the space you are halfway to your project being complete!

So lets dissect this project piece by piece. At the top is a cork board. This is a great feature to your back to school corner because it makes it easy to display your child’s school work that they want to show off. Did your kiddo work hard and get an A on that Math test? How about an adorable picture they colored of you in art class? A cork board is the perfect place for those special items and will help to declutter your fridge if that is where you are used to showing off their special work.

Another feature to this DIY back to school storage is the inspiring wall art. Children have so much pressure on them and it is good for them to start out their day with a special reminder of some sort. You know your children best and you know what they need to see/read. The quotes in this particular back pack storage area are about achieving your dreams and shooting for the stars. No matter what the quotes are, they will be a great way to not only inspire but to add a touch of flair to your back to school corner.

It is a great idea to have a dry erase board for each child. This can be their reminders of upcoming things such as geography tests, dance classes, doctors appts. etc… Or just a place for you to write a special note that is meant just for them.

Backpack Storage

The wall file storage baskets come in handy for those notebooks, folders, workbooks, papers, etc… that might not have to be carried in their backpacks daily but you don’t want them to get lost. This is a great way to keep things together and organized. It is also a great place to keep unfinished assignments and projects that have a later due date.

Lastly, the hooks for back pack storage. I love the double hook option so that they can keep their coats with their back packs. Nothing will slow you down more then a child who can’t find their coat on a cold morning.
