Winter is just around the corner. There are only 94 days left before the snowy season officially begins. However, the bitter cold will be setting in much sooner then that. Now is the time to start thinking about preparing your home for the cold season and getting everything ready for winter.
Service your HVAC and change filters. – It is important to keep up on the maintenance of your HVAC unit. Changing filters out before you turn on your heat is important.
Cut back any shrubs/ bushes. – This is the perfect time to get your yard cleaned up and ready for the spring season. Trimming back your trees and bushes is a great way to help your them prepare for more growth next spring.
Fertilize your lawn. – Did you know that fertilizing your yard now will help it to green up faster next spring?
Clean out Fireplace/ Chimney – The importance of this was posted in a blog post last week. You can check it out HERE!
Seal up air leaks by weather stripping and caulking – sealing up any air leaks will go a long way in keeping your home warm and your heat bill much lower.
Winterize sprinklers. – The last thing you want to deal with in the spring is broken sprinkler pipes, because you did not get your sprinkler system blown out in time.
Winterize your lawn equipment. – It is time to put away your lawn mowers and break out your snow blowers! It would be a great time to make sure both are up to par, serviced, and running great!
Get ice melt and snow blowers/ shovels ready. Are you prepared for the first winter storm of the year? If not then I recommend getting out your shovels, snow blowers, and ice melt now!
Clean and winterize your grill. The cold months ahead will bring an end to your grilling season. Don’t let your grills sit dirty all winter. Clean them up now and get them covered and put away before the snow flies.
